Char Dham Yatra

"A pilgrimage to the heart of devotion"

Brief Description

The Char Dham Yatra is one of India’s most sacred and spiritually enriching pilgrimages, nestled in the serene Himalayas of Uttarakhand. It encompasses four divine sites—Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath—each representing a unique element of Hindu mythology and belief. This sacred journey not only purifies the soul but also offers a deep connection with nature, devotion, and ancient traditions.

1. YamunotriThe Origin of River Yamuna

Located at an altitude of 3,293 meters, Yamunotri is the source of the revered Yamuna River. The temple dedicated to Goddess Yamuna stands amidst snow-capped peaks and hot springs. Pilgrims trek to this temple for blessings and to bathe in Jamunabai Kund, believed to cleanse one’s sins.

2. GangotriThe Birthplace of the Ganges

At 3,100 meters, Gangotri is where the River Ganga (known as Bhagirathi here) is believed to have descended from heaven. The Gangotri Temple, dedicated to Goddess Ganga, is surrounded by majestic deodar forests and mountain ranges. Devotees visit for ritual dips and prayers by the sacred river.

3. KedarnathThe Abode of Lord Shiva

Perched at 3,583 meters near the Mandakini River, Kedarnath is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas and a key destination for Shaivites. The journey involves a challenging 16–19 km trek, but the divine atmosphere and the ancient Kedarnath Temple make it deeply rewarding. It's a place where faith meets the raw beauty of the Himalayas.

4. BadrinathThe Sacred Shrine of Lord Vishnu

Situated at 3,133 meters, Badrinath Dham is devoted to Lord Vishnu in his Badri form. Nestled between the Nar and Narayan mountain ranges, the temple is near the banks of the Alaknanda River. The Tapt Kund hot spring and evening aarti make this visit a serene spiritual experience.
